Service Reopening FAQs
FAQS around services reopening
WILL I BE ABLE TO COME IF I HAVEN’T PRE-REGISTERED?
HOW DO I BOOK?
Booking pages for morning services will open one week prior to the service on Sunday and will be closed once capacity has been reached. The Sunday Evening and Tuesday services can be booked a few weeks in advance. Add any family members to your booking selecting the correct ticket for each person. You will find all the links you need at allsaintspeckham.org.uk/servicebooking
WHAT IF I HAVE COVID SYMPTOMS?
Please do not attend if you currently have (or think you have) any symptoms of Coronavirus if you are self-isolating or living with someone who is self-isolating and/or is vulnerable. Please follow NHS guidelines and arrange to have a COVID test if you have symptoms.
If you have already booked a space please send us an email if you develop symptoms and can no longer come so that we can offer your space to someone on a waiting list.
WHAT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WILL THERE BE?
We have reduced the capacity of each service so that we can safely social distance from one another across the site. Hand sanitiser will be available in a few different locations and we ask you to use that regularly. Those over 11 who do not have an exemption will be required to wear a face covering. We have some disposable ones but for the sake of the environment please try to remember to bring your own. Please bring your own bibles or read from the screen as we won’t be able to provide bibles in the chairs.
WILL THERE BE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY?
Yes, kids ministry with a limited capacity is available at both morning services. Creche will be open for 0-3 year olds (and those who have not yet started Reception) with an accompanying adult. Please book a creche ticket for the child and the adult. Kids church for those in Reception up to the end of primary school will be a fun place for kids to explore our themes together. Please book a kids church ticket for each child and indicate what school year group they are in. Sunday Morning Youth will meet outdoors in the office garden during the 11am service but not at the 9:15am. Make sure you book your young person into Sunday Morning Youth.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN CHILDREN’S GROUPS?
We are really looking forward to welcoming back Children to worship and learn about Jesus in a safe way. A more detailed description about what is happening, and the measures we are taking to ensure that the space is safe, will be available but we have included a short summary here. On a Sunday morning we will start with a short time of worship in the car park all together (including children), and families will be asked to stand closest to the hall to help with checking in. After the worship all children under 12 will be checked in, having confirmed that household members have remained symptom-free, and will enter the hall via the porch gates. Little Saints (our creche-age group) will then go straight into the play space, via the Blue room, where there will be a short story, followed by free play in both rooms. As the Little Saints ticket limit is 12 children, it is considered to be one bubble. At this point in time, children who are yet to start reception at school will remain in the Little Saints group, and all children must have a parent/carer stay with them during this session.
For the primary school groups, they will proceed into the hall where they will form up to 5 bubbles of mixed ages, in order to keep household groups together, of a capacity of up to 8 children. The Torches group (Years 5-6) will form their own bubble in order to take part in the activities. The children will initially sit around a designated table for a starter activity, before making their way around three further activity stations during a time of teaching and prayer. During this time there will always be 2m separation between the bubbles.
Throughout the time we will be spot cleaning and doing a full clean down before and after each service. Finally, children will be collected by 1 person from each household who will wait outside as the children are brought to the tower entrance to the hall. For any questions please contact email@example.com
WHAT ABOUT TEENAGERS?
We can’t wait to hang out with our young people in person again! We think it’s really important for them to gather with each other for worship and teaching that speaks to where they’re at, so we’ll be running Sunday Morning Youth during our 11:00 service. We’re going for one service only, as the number of young people at All Saints is much smaller than the number of under 12s who will require provision during both services. Following the time of sung worship with the whole church in the car park, the young people will make their way into the office garden, via the green gate. We’ll hang out with fun times, chats on the theme being explored across the whole church, and respond in prayer and worship. The garden will be a great space to do this while the weather is lovely and sunny, but if the forecasts take a turn for the wet, we’ll prepare to meet in the Red Shed, with the door remaining open for ventilation, and with cleaning taking place before and after the session.
We understand that there may be some teens who will prefer to wave their families off as they attend the 09:15 service, and will want to come to the 11:00 by themselves. That’s fine! They should just come and join the SMY leaders for worship in the car park, who will look out for them, and head into the garden with the rest of the group. They will need to book a youth ticket for the 11am service at www.allsaintspeckham.org.uk/servicebooking . For any questions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
WILL WE BE ABLE TO SING?
Current guidelines do not allow us to sing together indoors. Our hope is to gather in the car park for congregational singing at the beginning of the service. This is weather dependent. When we are inside the building we may continue to worship together but the congregation may not join in with singing indoors. Find different ways to respond to the song, by repeating the words in your mind or using your body to kneel, raise and hand or clap. It’s an opportunity for us to be creative and express our hearts in different ways.
CAN WE CHAT?
We don’t expect you to be silent throughout your time at church! We expect hearty hellos, waves and smiles. However we will be asking you not to move around, to stay within your household bubble and to leave the site straight after the service. Why not picnic with some people afterwards?
WILL THERE BE AN OFFERING?
We can’t pass offering plates around but there will be opportunities to give, including the contactless card machine at the back of church. Find out more about regular giving and gift aid at www.allsaintspeckham.org.uk/how-to-give.
WILL THERE BE TEA & COFFEE?
At the moment, we are not able to offer refreshments. You are welcome to bring your own water bottles or support our many local cafes before or after the service.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
If everyone arrives at once it will take us a long time to get you on to site. We will open the gates 15 minutes before the service starts. Please don’t arrive before then. Also please don’t arrive without leaving enough time to sign in.
WILL THERE BE TOILETS AVAILABLE?
We will not be able to use the hall toilets so there is only one toilet available during the service. Please keep this in mind!
CAN I DRIVE TO CHURCH?
There will be no car parking spaces available on the church site. Free parking is available in Choumert Road car park on a Sunday morning. If you need assistance with parking in order to get to church, please let us know.
I AM GOING TO BE SERVING. DO I NEED TO BOOK A TICKET?
If you are serving on a kids team, worship team or welcome team you do not need to book a ticket. This only covers you. Please book for any other members of the family who are coming along.
HOW DO I PROVIDE FEEDBACK?
We are learning as we go and keen to make improvements that help us gather safely together. If you have thoughts, ideas or want to let us know what didn’t work well, we are keen to hear from you. Please use the contact form below, email or call the office, or speak to a member of the staff team.
I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION NOT COVERED HERE.
