Food for thought

Artificial Intelligence

For anyone and everyone. Come and listen. Come and ask questions. Come and have breakfast at Food for Thought.

Saturday 23 March, 9.45am.

All Saints Peckham, Blenheim Grove, SE15 4QS

Alexa, Siri and the future of the human.

Artificial Intelligence is already a part of our world, providing insights for many things from insurance claims to medical diagnosis, dating sites to driverless cars.

For most of us, this is a mysterious domain of algorithms and mass data.  But what does the future really hold? Is Alexa going to take my job? Could Siri become conscious? Are robots going to take over the world?

Does AI tell us anything about what it means to be human?  Or to be wise?

At this morning of open discussion, we’ll be approaching these questions with Richard Sargeant, part of the government’s Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation.  We’ll discuss fears, fictions, truths and possibilities, including some of the questions and insights theology and philosophy might bring.

Everyone is welcome for a morning which, we hope, will give us all Food for Thought.

We at All Saints Peckham are hosting this morning and it will include some discussions about Christian theology, but people of all faiths and none are invited to bring their perspectives and questions.
