Young people
All Saints Youth: Transformed counter-cultural ambassadors
Our vision for the young people of All Saints is to be a growing family of radical young people TRANSFORMED by the love of Christ, living the COUNTER-CULTURAL call of Christ, and equipped to be AMBASSADORS for the mission of Christ.
All the youth activities we run come under the banner of this vision and over the last year we have seen a core group of young Christians start to meet together weekly and grow in their faith.
This is the 3rd year I have been working as the youth worker here at All Saints and it has been by far the most exciting in terms of the transformation in the young people's lives and the way they are taking ownership of the vision themselves.
Our group is racially, culturally, socially and economically the most diverse youth group I have ever worked with and yet it is the group within which I have seen the most harmony across the divides. Anyone working with young people in any context, let alone Peckham, will know how remarkable this is!
So what does an average week look like?
- Drama Club: Mon 5-6.30pm
- Light Night (Youth Service): Fri 7-9pm
- Sunday Morning Youth: Sun 10.30am - 12 (during the evening service)
- Impact groups: these are small groups, discipleship groups, geared around age groups and are generally girls-only or boys-only. These are invite-only (but don't worry - we're quite generous with our invites!), so if you would like to be a part of one please speak to us.
- One-to-one mentoring during the week: if you would like a mentor and don't have one please ask us.
- Sunday lunch: once a month we have Sunday lunch together, straight after the morning service.
- Film nights: we have regular youth film nights at church where we turn the hall into our very own cinema!
Child Sponsorship - Compassion
We have a child sponsorship scheme with Compassion - we sponsor children who are all from the same village in Thailand in groups of 3 so it works out as £6 each per month. We are aiming to take every young person who commits to this scheme to visit the children in Thailand in summer 2009.
